Since the launch of the iPhone X with a notch in 2017, the notch has become a trend among smartphone manufacturers. The notch has been seen in the wide form like that of the iPhone X. It has also been seen in the waterdrop form as in the Huawei Mate 20. Most flagship Android phones now feature the notch, and the Pixel 3 XL is not left behind.
A new leak has shown that the upcoming flagship from Asus, the ZenFone 6, will also feature a notch. However, the leaked images show a notch that is quite unconventional. The ZenFone 6 is seen to sport a waterdrop notch, but this notch is not centralized on the device. Rather, it is an offset waterdrop notch at the top of the display. This is a step away from the notches we have seen so far, and it will certainly be a controversial design choice.
The ZenFone 6 images which were leaked on SlashLeaks show the notch placed slightly towards the right while facing the phone. The leak also shows a considerable bezel on the chin of the device. On the rear, the ZenFone 6 is seen to sport a triple camera setup arranged vertically with an LED flash below them. A fingerprint sensor is also on the shiny back.
If Asus goes ahead with this design, it will definitely raise talks among smartphone aficionados. If it records success with it, then we may see other manufacturers following suit in subsequent releases.
