Asus has announced that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 will get an update to Android 9.0 Pie in February 2019. The Taiwanese company made this announcement alongside launching the Asus ZenFone Max M2 and the ZenFone Max Pro M2 in New Delhi.
During the announcement of this update rollout for the ZenFone Max Pro M1, Asus India Head, Mobile Business, Dinesh Sharma said: “You can see that we’ve kept our promise and will be also delivering you the Pie update. All this is work in progress now.” He also announced that the ZenFone Max M2 and ZenFone Max Pro M2 will receive an update to Android Pie in January.
Launched in April 2018, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 came as a form of competition for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is a dual-SIM (nano) phone that comes with a 5.99-inch full-HD+ IPS Full View display with a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. This display has an aspect ratio of 18:9. The device runs a near-stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, paired with an Adreno 509 GPU. Coming in three RAM variants of 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB, the phone comes with up to 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.
The Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging.
Just last month, Asus announced that the ZenFone 5Z will also receive the update to Android Pie in January 2019. Just like the ZenFone Max Pro M1, the ZenFone 5Z debuted in India earlier this year with Android Oreo.
