First-generation Razer Phone gets Android Pie update

Razer Phone

The Razer Phone is a dedicated gaming phone that was released in 2017. It came with 120Hz display; this was the first on any smartphone.

Over the past two years, there has been an increase in the number of gaming smartphones. We have the ROG phone, the ROG phone 2, the Doogee S70 and even the Razer Phone 2.

The first-generation Razer phone launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat in 2017. Subsequently, it got an update to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Now, the phone has gotten a new update, this time the Android 9 Pie. The Android Pie update comes with the July security update. This update comes with a size of just over 1GB. We believe that it may actually be the last big update that the first-generation Razer Phone gets.

The changelog shows that the update comes with the standard Android 9 package. It features Digital Wellbeing, Adaptive Battery, Gesture Navigation, and better notification management. In addition, the update comes with bug fixes and improved performance.

The Android 9 Pie update for the Razer phone comes with a scheduled release, so it may take a while to get to all units.
