This is by all indications a budget smartphone; you can tell this as well through its plastic body. The Gionee P5 Mini is one device that will appeal to many young users nevertheless with its sleek and colourful design. It comes in at 9.1 mm thick and tips the scale at 153 grams.
The Gionee P5 Mini is equipped with a 5-megapixel main camera with autofocus and LED flash. You also get a 2-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. This is a manageable camera combination for what is expected to be a budget phone.
The display is an On-Cell unit measuring 4.5 inches diagonally. It has an FWVGA resolution of 480 x 854 pixels which is manageable given the screen size.
The capacity of internal storage is put at 8 GB. It is not clear if the storage is expandable, but we expect it to support up to 32GB microSD card.
As for the innards, the Gionee P5 Mini comes equipped with a quad-core MediaTek MT6580M processor. The CPU is clocked at 1.3 GHz and receives support for lowly 1 GB of RAM. The sort of performance that should be expected from this one has enjoyable entry level written all over it.
The phone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. While this OS version is better than the 4.4 KitKat on the Pioneer P5, it is still relatively old for this time, but the price will probably vindicate this choice.
The Gionee P5 Mini is a dual-SIM dual-standby smartphone meaning you can afford to have a separate line for work and another for all else in your life. It supposedly lets you do unlock with your ‘own facial expression,’ whatever that means. Juice will be supplied by a 1,800mAh battery.
It seems The Oukitel C2 shares a similar or better spec with sheet with the gionee p5 mini and comes with even a lower price tag of just NGN14,500. Read its hands-On review here.
