After being talked about for many years, the on-display fingerprint sensor finally made it to the market with the introduction of Vivo’s X20 Plus UD and X21 UD. For this, they made use of a Synaptic sensor to make things happen. It is interesting to know that they are not the only ones who fancy such a technology.
According to new reports, Huawei could be planning something of the sort on its next flagship – the Mate 11 or Mate 20 (depending on which naming system the Taiwanese OEM plans to go for).
From what we are getting from the rumour mills, Huawei will go with Qualcomm’s solution which promises to be a more robust and efficient under-display fingerprint sensor. Given the chipmaker’s expertise in the market, that cannot be doubted.
Touted to cost three times more than traditional units, the sensor from Qualcomm will work for you even when your hands are either wet or greasy. Expected to launch in Q3 or Q4 of this year, the Mate 11/ 20 still has a lot of time to work on the introduction of this feature if it is going to be a success at all
