Huawei’s latest flagship smartphones, the Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro, and the Mate 20 X have been launched at an event held in London, United Kingdom. These devices come with Huawei’s latest HiSilicon Kirin 980 7nm SoC, 40W Huawei SuperCharge technology, and triple rear camera setup. The Mate 20 Pro also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Before the launch of these devices, there have been lots of leaks, especially over the past few weeks. In confirmation of one of the rumors, Huawei has introduced the world’s first nano memory card, said to be 45 percent smaller than the microSD card. Both the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro come with dual Nano-SIM setups, with the ability to take two Nano-SIM cards or one Nano-SIM card and one Nano memory card.
Huawei Mate 20 Features And Specifications
The Huawei Mate 20 sports a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1080×2244 pixels) RGBW display with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, and an 88.07 percent screen-to-body ratio. This display has a maximum brightness of 820 nits.
The device runs EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. It is powered by Huawei’s latest chipset, the 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, with dual AI processor. It sports a Leica triple camera setup. This setup includes a 16MP ultra wide angle primary shooter with f/2.2 aperture, a 12MP wide angle secondary shooter with f/1.8 aperture, and an 8MP telephoto tertiary shooter with f/2.4 aperture. These cameras are aided by an LED flash and Super HDR.
Connectivity options on the Mate 20 include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. On the rear of the device sits a fingerprint sensor.
The Huawei Mate 20 is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and supports 40W Huawei SuperCharge technology. It has an IP53 rating.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro Features And Specifications
The Mate 20 Pro is smaller in size than the Mate 20. It comes with a 6.39-inch QHD+ (1440×3120 pixels) curved OLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 86.9 percent. This display has a high color saturation.
Powered by the same flagship Kirin 980 SoC as the Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro also runs EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. However, the Mate 20 Pro is the only model in Huawei’s Mate 20 series to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device has an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s Leica triple camera setup is like that of the Huawei P20 Pro. It comes with a 40MP wide angle primary shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a 20MP ultra wide angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP 3X telephoto shooter with f/2.4 aperture. This setup comes with an LED flash and Super HDR. On the front of the Mate 20 Pro sits a 24MP RGB selfie camera which supports 3D facial unlocking. It comes with 3D Live Emoji.
Connectivity options on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
This device is powered by a 4,200mAh battery and also supports 40W charging. In addition, it exclusively supports 15W fast wireless charging, coming with the “world’s first wireless reverse charging” technology on a smartphone.
Huawei Mate 20 X Features
The Huawei Mate 20 X is a phablet that was launched with the Mate 20 series. It features a 7.2-inch OLED display with support for the Huawei M-Pen. This device also comes with a Leica triple rear camera setup with a 40MP ultra wide angle primary shooter. Like the Mate 20, it comes with an IP53 water and dust resistance rating. It also comes with a graphene film and vapor chamber cooling system.
The Mate 20 is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery.
Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X Price
The Huawei Mate 20 comes at a starting price of EUR 799 (about 335,000 Naira) for the 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant, and EUR 849 (about 356,000 Naira) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes in just one memory variant of 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage with a price tag of EUR 1049 (about 440,000 Naira).
The Huawei Mate 20 X is also available in just one memory variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is priced at EUR 899 (about 377,000 Naira) and will be available in select European markets from October 26. It was launched in Midnight Blue and Phantom Silver options.
As at the time of writing this post, we do not know when the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will become available in Nigeria. They are already available in select European markets. The price it will go for in Nigeria is also not yet known. Both phones will be sold in five color variants – Black, Midnight Blue, Emerald Green, Pink Gold, and Twilight.
