Huawei officially unveiled the Huawei Mate X at MWC 2019. It’s been five months since then and we do not have the device yet. This is despite not having to go through overblown media scandals like the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
In fact, right now, the launch of the Mate X does not seem to be close at all. A recent interview with He Gang, Director of Huawei’s consumer business mobile phone line hinted that the launch is still quite a while away. He Gang revealed that Huawei was still busy optimising/perfecting the Mate X to meet strict quality requirements. He admitted that doing this was a more challenging process than anticipated.
This statement quite shows that Huawei is interested in the strict quality of the device. However, it also gives the impression that the Mate X is simply not ready yet.
According to rumours some time ago, the Huawei Mate X was heading towards a September release. This is same as the rumoured release period for the redesigned Samsung Galaxy Fold. However, as it stands now, we don’t even know if any of them will be really ready by then.
Only recently, Huawei CEO Richard Yu was spotted at an airport with his personal Mate X. Talking about the actual launch of the device, he gave a response along the lines of “It will have to wait.”.
The long and short of it is that the Huawei Mate X is still not ready for the market, and we have no clear idea when it will be.
