LG released an update to the Android 8 Oreo for their V30 smartphone in their home market of South Korea and seemed to forget that there are other markets where the smartphone launched in. To be candid, that is very bad behaviour from a company that wants to beat Samsung in the Android race.
It is not even helped that they exhibited this kind of behaviour on one of their most expensive flagships till date. However, they have now made the update available in Italy too and we hope they continue with the global rollout now.
The Italian arm of the company is ecstatic about rolling out to the feature to its customers. For now, unlocked units and those carried by Verizon will be the first to get the update which has started rolling out as of the time of writing this piece.
Asides the Oreo and some other performance improvement features, the update also brings the ThinQ AI that was introduced inside the LG V30S at MWC in February. For those that are registered to other carriers, they will get their Oreo bump sometimes in the future.
For those who are not aware, the ThinQ AI is one that is very important for such things as taking photos. The AI ensures the cameras work better together to take pictures even in low light and identify what is being focused on/ shot. Examining more than 100 million picture samples to come up with this feature, we have no doubt that the AI will do more than expected.
If you happen to be in other markets or ordered your device from there, all we can ask is that you exercise a little more patience in being invited to taste some Oreo too.
