LG has launched the LG V40 ThinQ, the highly anticipated flagship from the company. The Korean giant launched this new device at a special event in New York on Wednesday. Confirming the tease over the past couple of days and even weeks, the LG V40 ThinQ comes with five cameras – three on the rear and two on the front.
The LG V40 ThinQ comes with a massive 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision Display with a resolution of 3120×1440 pixels. Design-wise, the device comes with a matte glass finish, which the company says is highly resistant to fingerprint stains. Just like the LG V35 ThinQ, the V40 ThinQ is compliant with MIL-STD 810G standard. The device supports IP68 water and dust resistant technology.
In terms of specifications, the LG V40 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone has 6GB of RAM and comes with two internal storage variants – a 64GB variant and a 128GB variant. Both can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.
A lot of smartphone users consider camera before making the choice of what product to buy. To this end, the LG V40 ThinQ comes with a triple-camera setup on the rear. This setup includes a standard 12MP shooter with f/1.5 aperture, a 12MP telephoto shooter with f/2.4 aperture, and a 12MP super wide-angle shooter with f/1.9 aperture. For selfie lovers, there is a dual-camera setup on the front of the device. This setup includes a standard 8MP lens with f/1.9 aperture and a 5MP wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture.
To go along with the triple-camera setup on the rear, LG is introducing a new feature called the Triple Shot in the LG V40 ThinQ. This feature allows users to take three pictures at a go using the standard, telephoto and wide-angle lens. In addition, the V40 ThinQ comes with LG’s AI Cam to automatically adjust settings of the phone’s camera. In addition to this is a Cine Shot mode which lets users create cinematographs using any of the cameras.
The LG V40 ThinQ comes with the same boombox speakers that were seen in the LG G7 ThinQ, launched earlier this year. It also features the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, which, according to the company, delivers a sound closer to the recording sound.
Connectivity options on the LG V40 ThinQ include LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C 2.0. it is powered by a 3,300mAh battery and comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 technology.
The LG V40 ThinQ comes in four color variants – New Aurora Black, New Platinum Gray, New Moroccan Blue, and Carmine Red. It will be available in the US starting from October 18, at a price between $900 and $980. This is about. But LG is yet to announce the availability of the device in other regions yet.
