MediaTek’s low-end/ mid-range 5G chipset will be built on the 7nm Process

Huawei one of the biggest winners as China starts granting 5G licenses

There have been talks about MediaTek’s plans to come up with a 5G for the masses. Now, more information is available about the chipset that MediaTek will use for the planned 5G.

We got this information from Digital chat station, a reputable leakster on Weibo. According to the leakster, MediaTek is serious about its plans for an affordable 5G chipset in 2020. However, what is even more interesting is the fact that the SoC will be built on a 7nm FinFET process. It will also feature Cortex-A76 cores. This means that we may expect quite high performance from the chip.

MediaTek plans to achieve this using its own Helio M70 5G-enabled modem. This modem supports SA/NSA dual-mode network.

Very interesting is the fact that MediaTek is aiming this 5G chip at phones costing around CNY2,000. This is roughly ₦103,000. This means that mid-range devices will enjoy this 5G SoC. How impressive that is!
