Moto G7 Play spotted on FCC with Display Notch and Snapdragon 632

Moto G7 Play on FCC

Motorola will be launching its budget smartphone, the Moto G7 Play, sometime next year. It is the most affordable of the Moto G7 series. This new addition to the Lenovo-owned brand’s G series has now been spotted on the website of the FCC, the US telecommunications certification body.

Even though the device is yet to be launched, its features and specifications have leaked online. Importantly, the FCC listing shows that the Moto G7 Play may be powered by a battery with a lower capacity than that of its predecessor.

The Moto G7 Play will be powered by the new Snapdragon 632 chipset with the Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with a single rear camera setup. The phone has a USB Type-C port and will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

From the live images of the Moto G7 Play spotted in the FCC document, it is possible that there will be a fingerprint sensor built into the Motorola batwing logo on the rear of the device. Apart from that – and the rear camera – there is not much on the rear of the device. The phone was seen in Black and Silver color variants, but there will probably be more variants when it is eventually launched.

A drawing from a manual in the FCC document also reveals a display notch on the Moto G7. This notch is expected to house the front camera and flash as well as a speaker/earpiece. A Motorola logo is seen printed on the bottom chin of the device.

The battery capacity of the Moto G7 Play is 2,820mAh which is low compared to that of the Moto G6 Play.

Other phones in the Moto G7 series are the Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, and Moto G7 Power. The Moto G7 Play is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2019.
