Reports from Nokia Power User have revealed that the Android 9 beta test on the Nokia 6.1 Plus is now complete, and that HMD Global may roll out the official global update soon. The company mailed a thank you note to all the beta testers, marking the completion of the beta testing.
The note read, “Many thanks for being part of the Android 9 Pie Nokia phones beta labs program with your Nokia 6.1 Plus. Thanks to your valuable feedback, the official release will soon be ready and available to millions of users. Once Android 9 is approved by your operator, it will be automatically pushed to you via OTA.”
The company has not yet released information about when exactly the official updated OS will be released on the Nokia smartphone. But it is still nice to see that Nokia is fulfilling its promise of providing necessary software updates to their smartphones.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch Full HD+ notched display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, it has 4GB of RAM. The 64GB internal storage is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card. It is backed by a 3,060mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
The phone ticks many the boxes for the features that are trending on smartphones in 2018. One of its closest rivals is the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Getting the official Android 9 update on the Nokia 6.1 Plus is a step further in the right direction.
