HMD Global -A Finish start-up- has launched The Nokia 8 after several weeks of speculations, the launching took place at an event in London. Before then, the Nokia 6,5 and Nokia 3 phones have already been launched.
During the period of anticipation, the company went ahead to release several promotional materials, stating that the device will run on ‘Pure version of Android’ this time.
With the help of dual rear camera setup on the Nokia 8, new camera software has been developed to see to the dial lens system and to offer a better manual control over the pictures captured with the device.
The dual camera also saw to the comeback of Zeis to the smartphone world with the first Zeis lenses available on an Android phone.
Nokia 8 specs highlight and price range
The Nokia 8 comes running the Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the device is available in two versions; the 6GB and 4GB RAM variants. The 4GB RAM model holds internal storage of 64GB while the 6GB RAM version comes with 128GB, both can be expanded to upto 256GB with SD card.
Nokia 8 sports the SnapDragon 835 system on chip with a powerful Octa-core (4×2.45 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo) CPU. In the powerhouse is a 3090 mAh non-removable battery, the device supports flash 3.0.
Another major highlight of the Nokia 8 is its Quad HD dsiplay, it’s screen measures 5.3 inches with a resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels and PPI of 554. On top of the screen is the corning Gorilla glass 5 for protection.
Nokia has witness good success when it comes to optics in a smartphone so with the new Nokia 8, they were sure to deliver in terms of photography. The new Nokia flagship has 13 megapixels camera for both the rear and front shutters.
It is only the rear camera that has optical image stabilizing feature, the second camera at the rear is a black and white camera which will be used to pick out more detail and capture more light to create the digital image.
Nokia 8’s design is quite basic and trendy, it saw a home button at the front bezel. The button is flanked by two navigation keys, a fingerprint scanner is embedded in the home button.
The device is served in Tempered Blue, Polished Blue, Steel and Polished Copper colors. as of body design, the Nokia 8 is not as angular as the Nokia 6, it has shallower curve on the sides and rear border but the overall body design still has that Nokia’s smartphone ‘attitude’. Nokia 8 was launched with a 705 USD price tag which should read about 254,000 naira in Nigeria with the current exchange rate. The device will be available for purchase starting from September.
