At the time of launch of Oppo R15 came the bigger brother – Oppo R15 Pro – for even upper midrange buyers. This is the device that is also known as the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition in China, and it has gone on to make a name for itself in the little time since its introduction.
Although we don’t see a notch anywhere, the massive cameras combine with the bezel-less feature on board to give the unit a blend of class, beauty and functionality. Carrying a more than decent chipset with an impressive battery to boot, let’s look at how much Oppo has done to impress us with their R15 Pro.

Oppo R15 Pro Features Overview
Prying this smartphone out of the box, you will be faced with the 6.28-inch screen. This massive phablet display could have you glued for a while and we won’t blame you for that. That is what is expected when looking at a beautiful AMOLED screen which takes up close to 85% of the entire front build.
While it would have benefitted so much from a notched screen, that looks like a feature that users will learn to live without on this offering.
Looking further up the screen, a massive 20MP selfie sensor cannot be missed for anything. Again, it is disappointing that Oppo would not provide us a LED flash for this camera. They made up for that flaw by equipping this standalone camera with the ability to capture videos in 1080p quality.
Before getting to the back, the glass front is held to the rear by an aluminium frame. It is on this frame that we have such cut-outs as the microphone and speaker grills, volume rocker, power button and of course, a 3.5mm jack. Going to the back, we are treated to yet another material.
Going for ceramic instead of metal, Oppo’s premium rear panel sees the introduction of a dual camera setup (16MP + 20MP), a fingerprint scanner and LED flash to go along with the cameras.
Leaving the surface and going deeper, the Oppo R15 Pro packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset which clocks as much as 2.2GHz. married to an Adreno 512 GPU, Color OS 5.0 is at the heart of affairs. This operating system was based on the Android Oreo 8.1.
Oppo R15 Pro offers only a 6GB RAM configuration and we feel that is sufficient. The internal storage space is also capped at 128GB which can be expanded up to 256GB with the microSD card slot on board. To use this slot, users will have to forgo the use of a second SIM card as it is a hybrid slot.
Offered in colour options of Ceramic Black and Dream Mirror Red, a non-removable 3400mAh battery keeps the lights on.
Oppo R15 Pro price and availability
Oppo R15 and R15 Pro (or R15 DME in Chinese markets) have already been launched in the primary target markets but they are yet to make their way to secondary markets. That is expected to happen soon at which time we will update this page with the pricing details.

Oppo R15 Pro Best Alternatives
Those that want to stick with the Oppo brand but don’t see much improvement between this Pro and the base version should go for the standalone Oppo R15. If you are looking for added functionality and aesthetics, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is another hot option on the market right now.
Finally, those that want a brand they have been identifying with for a long time will find either of the Tecno Camon X/ Camon X Pro fitting too.
