In a bid to rake in as much as possible from the markets, two South Korean phone OEMs – Samsung and LG – have now decided to adopt what is called a shotgun approach to their phone launch. The meaning of this is that they will both be launching a lot of phones to the market with the hopes that one or more catches on fast and draws a lot of revenues to their stables.
This move is not out of place though, given that the shares of both companies went down in the same Q1 2018 that saw a rise in the stocks of Apple, Xiaomi and Huawei.
It should be noted that both of these companies have been directing a lot of their efforts to their high-end offerings where the margins are higher. With this new model though, they will be releasing phones in all of the categories there are.
Hopefully, both companies will be able to replicate the success of Huawei who have sold over 6 million units of their P20 units and also Xiaomi that has been able to ship off more than a million units of their Mi 8 till date.
