Samsung has taken to its global newsroom to upload an event invite scheduled for October 11. The invitation was filled with teases as Samsung was not explicit about what exactly to expect. However, the post suggested that the South Korean company is working on announcing a Galaxy phone with four cameras. This is from the fact that Samsung included a “4x fun” statement on the invitation. If this happens, it will be the first time that Samsung includes four cameras in any of its Galaxy smartphones. The other explanation is that Samsung could be working on a phone whose camera supports 4x optical zoom.
Earlier this month, popular “leakster” Ice Universe posted a tweet in which the user wrote “Samsung”, and “Camera Camera Camera Camera” below it. It was speculated at the time, that Samsung was working on a Galaxy smartphone with four cameras. This is probably the basis of the belief that Samsung’s “4x fun” refers to that particular smartphone with four cameras.
The “Galaxy Event” is scheduled to take place on October 11. However, the invitation did not give details of a physical venue. Rather, Samsung dropped links for users to stream the live event. If you are interested, you can stream it live on news.samsung.com/global, www.samsungmobilepress.com, or www.samsung.com/galaxy.
Under the invitation image, Samsung wrote:
Samsung’s newest Galaxy device is bringing more ways to express yourself than ever before. Capture the fun with Samsung as the company celebrates the launch of the new device with A Galaxy Event on October 11, 2018.
If Samsung will indeed be incorporating four cameras in the device set to launch, there are two likely options. The company could incorporate two cameras on the rear and two on the front. The other likely option is that Samsung incorporates three cameras on the rear and just one on the front. The latter may be the case considering the fact that manufacturers such as LG and Huawei are already implementing triple camera setups on the rear.
Samsung’s “4x” may also mean that the camera will have 4x optical zoom. We just have to wait and see. October 11 is less than one month away.
Meanwhile, Samsung is still working on a foldable smartphone. This was confirmed by the CEO of the Samsung’s Mobile Division, DJ Koh. The company may release more details about this device, which is called the Galaxy F, at the Samsung Developer Conference in November.
