Samsung’s venture into the foldable phone market was not exactly smooth at the initial stage. However, the Samsung Galaxy Fold eventually attained a level of success. Now, the company is already preparing to launch its second foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold 2. If the many rumors flying around are anything to go by, then the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will debut on February 11 or February 18. This will be in time with the launch of the new Galaxy S20 lineup.
So, what should you expect in the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2? For one, the device will come with Super Fast-Charging. The folks at XDA Developers made this discovery from a string of code in the Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s stable Android 10 release. The code shows the Galaxy Fold 2 charging animation with a file titled “bloom_front_charging_effect_superfast”. While this may just seem like regular code, it is important to note that “Bloom” is the internal codename for the Galaxy Fold 2. With an adequate charging adapter, the actual charging speed of the device reaches 45W. Samsung’s Super Fast-Charging technology first appeared in 2019’s Galaxy S10 5G.
The charging animation will apparently appear on the Galaxy Fold 2’s secondary notification display, next to its dual-camera setup.
Now, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 may come with impressive charging specs, but does it come with an impressive battery? Earlier rumors had it that one of the phone’s dual-battery will have a 900mAh capacity. There was no information about the second cell. However, new rumors point at a total battery capacity of 3,000mAh on the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. That would be underwhelming, to say the least.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to come at a price tag in the region of $1,000.
