Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

galaxy s10 plus black

Samsung rattled the smartphone market with options on their Galaxy S10 models, and if not for the 5G unit, this Galaxy S10 Plus would have been at the top of the pile.

Even at that, though, it packs some features that you won’t get elsewhere on the market. Given how difficult it is for one smartphone brand to really stand out with all the competition out there, this is a really good thing.

If you have ever looked at the price tag on a Galaxy S10 Plus before, you might have been left wondering what it gives for all that money. Well, how about we give you a peek into that right now?

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Features Overview

To be honest, we don’t know where to start with this unit. The bezels, or lack thereof? The hole in the screen? The screen itself? Well, maybe that.

Hearing that this unit comes with 6.4 inches of screen might not sound like much to you until you have one in your hands. The good news with the Galaxy S10 Plus is that you get to use most of this screen since the phone is almost without bezels.

The fact that the screen has a very clean 1440 x 3040-pixel resolution does not make that our most interesting feature on that screen. What we love the most has to be the special notch style that Samsung has opted for, becoming a pioneer for the hole in the screen technology.

This hole is not just there either, but functional enough to hold dual camera sensors – one at 10MP and the other at 8MP. On the back of this unit, we have glass that is almost as amazing as the one in the front. Protected by the same Corning Gorilla Glass 5 technology, you don’t have to worry about having some fickle glass unit on your hands.

All that, but we are still impressed by the amazing colour options that this glass takes – Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism Green, Ceramic White, Ceramic Black, Canary Yellow and Flamingo Pink. Those are two more colour options than we get on both the Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10.

Beneath all that beauty, you get to pick the Galaxy S10 Plus in two options. The first one sounds normal with 8GB of RAM and either of 128GB or 512GB in storage space. The second one makes all the difference, offering a massive 12GB RAM with 1TB of storage out of the box.

Samsung makes things even more interesting by throwing in a microSD slot that allows up to 1TB too, only if you are going for the dual SIM model. That’s not the only place Samsung offers options either. When choosing, your market or preferences will determine what chipset you get. For that, you can choose either of an Exynos 9820 build or go for the equally top-shelf Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

No matter which one you get, your Galaxy S10 Plus will run on Android 9 Pie with the all-new One UI. If you thought we wouldn’t mention the amazing triple camera setup on the back, you are wrong.

When a device matches a massive 12MP main, dual pixel, wide camera to another 12MP telephoto lens which spins into a 16MP ultra-wide unit, there is little more we need to say to let you know your images will be as amazing as can be.

For those who haven’t heard, the phone won’t be with facial recognition feature, but it will carry an in-display fingerprint sensor with ultrasonic support for even better security. It gets better, in that you get a 4100mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging on both wired and wireless fronts.

In fact, the phone can serve as a power bank for other devices you have. Overall, this is one of the best phones to happen to the market.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus price and availability

Samsung made their announcement of the Galaxy S10 Plus and its brothers in late February, making them all available to the market by March. A handful of online and offline stores here have already started carrying the unit, and you should see offers starting from NGN 400,000.

Of course, your choice of vendor, as well as the colour/ configurations options you desire, will have a huge impact on pricing.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus Best Alternatives

We don’t need to think hard before telling you that the best alternatives for this phone are those in the same line-up with it – the Galaxy S10 standard. If the price is what you fear, and will do better with lesser specs, you should see what the Galaxy S10e holds for you.

Otherwise, we believe OnePlus has done so well this year too, and you stand to gain a lot from their OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro offerings.
