Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6

Samsung also introduced its latest flagship foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold6, at the Unpacked event in Paris. This new model is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and features updated screen aspect ratios. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, it runs on One UI 6.1.1, incorporating the latest Galaxy AI advancements.

Design and Display

The most notable improvement in the Galaxy Z Fold6 is the new aspect ratio of its cover screen, now at 22.1:9, a slight but significant change from the previous model’s 23.1:9 ratio. The cover display has also increased slightly to 6.3 inches, offering a better viewing experience with reduced bezels.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 is 1.5mm shorter and 2.9mm wider when unfolded compared to the Galaxy Fold5. It is also 0.5mm thinner when unfolded and 14g lighter, weighing 239g. This makes it one of the lightest foldable phones available, just 7g heavier than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The hinge design has been revamped, and the phone now features a 1.6x larger vapor chamber for improved heat dissipation. The Galaxy Z Fold6 is IP48 certified, providing dust protection for the first time among foldable phones, ensuring protection from particles larger than 1mm.

The main display is a 7.6-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a 20.9:18 aspect ratio and a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. Both the main and cover screens have Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

Camera and Battery

The Galaxy Z Fold6 is equipped with five cameras. The rear setup includes a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera with a 123-degree field of view. The cover display has a 10 MP selfie camera, while a 4 MP camera is hidden under the foldable display for video chats.

Despite the advancements, the battery remains a 4,400 mAh unit, supporting 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Samsung promises improved efficiency to help the Galaxy Z Fold6 last longer between charges.

Galaxy Z Flip6

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is an impressive upgrade from its 2023 predecessor, featuring a slimmer and lighter design, enhanced durability, and a significant boost to its camera system. Olympic edition of the Galaxy Z Flip6 was unveiled at the event.

Performance and Durability

The Z Flip6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, which is used globally. This chipset enhances AI capabilities and includes a vapor chamber for better heat management, a first for the Z Flip series. Both the Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 boast IP48 particle ingress protection, keeping out larger particles, while maintaining water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. The device uses upgraded Armor Aluminum and Gorilla Glass Victus 2, making it the most durable Z Flip to date.

Camera and Display

This new model comes with 12GB of RAM (up from 8GB) and offers 256GB or 512GB of storage options. The main camera has been upgraded to a 50MP sensor with a 2x in-sensor zoom, complemented by AI zoom that can achieve up to 10x magnification. The 12MP ultra-wide camera and 10MP selfie camera remain unchanged.

The main display is now an LTPO panel with a 1-120Hz refresh rate, maintaining the 6.7-inch diagonal and FHD+ resolution. The Flex Display retains its size and resolution at 3.4 inches with 720 x 748 pixels and runs at 60Hz, capable of reaching 1,600 nits in high brightness mode.

AI Features and Enhanced Photography

The Galaxy Z Flip6 introduces Auto Zoom for Flex Mode, which allows hands-free group photos by automatically adjusting the zoom to achieve the best framing. Nightography has been enhanced to support video HDR, with advanced image processing features available directly within the Instagram app.
