So far this year, we have gotten a number of Nokia phone releases from HMD. An example is the Nokia 6.1, which is basically the global Nokia X6. However, most of these phones fall in the budget and mid-range segments. Many fans are still waiting for the announcement of a true flagship for the year.
2018 is gradually coming to a close, and a true flagship is probably just around the corner. A new Nokia phone has been spotted on China’s 3C certification site. Even though not many details were released about this device, we believe that it could be the high-end phone we have been waiting for.
Having a model number TA-1131, this device could actually be the Nokia 9 flagship. All the certification reveals are the fact that the phone supports 5V/3A, 9V/2A, and 12V/1.5A charging speeds. What this means is that the device will support fast charging. Nokia phones have been known for this, so that isn’t much of a surprise.
It is likely that this new Nokia phone will be launched in China before going global. This is a trend that HMD has been following for some time. The Nokia X5 and Nokia X6 for example, were launched in China, before going global as Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 6.1 respectively.
While the Nokia 8 Sirocco that was launched earlier this year is a beautiful phone, we cannot expressly call it Nokia’s flagship of the year; it brought last year’s hardware. However, it showed that HMD was capable of producing flagship phones that can withstand the competition.
In March, 2018, there were reports of the possible launch of a Nokia 8 Pro and a Nokia 9 in the second half of the year. We’re in the second half now, and this new device on 3C certification could be what we have been waiting for. If the information from that report is anything to go by, the device may be powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset.
In any case, we are expecting a Nokia flagship, and this is probably it. More information about it will definitely be up soon.
