In 2019, Sony has come up with some refreshes to its updated Xperia line. One of the major highlights of this is the new 21:9 aspect ratio displays. Now, it appears that the company is set to bring even more refreshes to the line in 2020. One of these is the use of punch-hole cutouts for the front camera.
As seen in a newly published patent on the WIPO Global Design Database, Sony has showcased an upcoming device’s user interface. We see the screen of the device with its minimal top bezels.
The screenshot also shows the phone’s multi-window functionality. The phone also shows info on both top corners. While the time is displayed on the left, we see the battery status on the right.
If this info display at the top corners is anything to go by, then it probably means that Sony is working on a phone with a centered punch-hole. This is similar to the design that we see on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. We also see the setup in the new Samsung Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71.
From the screenshot, the guys at LetsGoDigital were able to come up with a render of how the device will look. The render features the punch-hole that is expected to house the front camera.
