The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition has been on sale in China, but might be going global very soon. According to an Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore, the device has been spotted. What this means is that it might be getting to various markets and enjoying global presence soon.

Over the weekend, a Xiaomi-branded device was spotted at the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore. Having a model number M1807E8A, it is the same model found at EEC with the name Mi 8 Pro. It features the same Mi 8 Pro label in Singapore. These two models show that the device is indeed the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and not just the regular Xiaomi Mi 8.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with a whopping 6.21-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. Having a screen-to-body ratio of 83.8%, the screen of the device is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It sports a screen notch at the top and an in-display fingerprint sensor under the screen. Like the iPhone X, this device has 3D facial recognition technology.
This device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset, paired with an Adreno 630 GPU. It runs the MIUI 10 software on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. It has a RAM of 8GB and an internal storage of 128GB. This internal storage is not expandable via microSD card. Also worthy of note is the fact that this is the only memory configuration of the Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition has a dual 12-megapixel camera setup with LED flash on the rear. It can record 4K videos at 60fps, as well as 720p slow-motion videos. On the front sits a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting Effects support.
