Over the past few years, Xiaomi has become one of the biggest players in the smartphone market. One of the reasons for this is that the company keeps releasing phones of all levels – budget phones, mid-level phones, and even high-end phones.
Sometime ago, the company said that it would launch a 5G version of its Mi Mix 3 smartphone for the European market in 2019. The company President Lin Bin even showed off a 5G version of this device last month. According to a recent report, this variant of the Mi Mix 3 will be powered by the newly announced Snapdragon 855 SoC. Now, Xiaomi has taken to Weibo to confirm that the device is ready and will indeed be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC.
The 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 is expected to be unveiled at the 2018 China Mobile Global Partner Conference. At the unveiling, 5G connectivity will be enabled on the device with the help of Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem along with the mmWave and sub-6 GHz antenna module, which will help the device in achieving up to 2Gbps download speeds.
Xiaomi said that the launch of the 5G Mi Mix 3 in Europe will come up in 2019 after the company takes part in China Mobile’s 5G “pre-commercial field test” in the first quarter.
